In Memoriam: Alfred Renda

Alfred (Fred) Renda, age 58 of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, passed away Nov. 25, 2019, in his home. Renda was president of NUCA member company Ernest Renda Contracting Co., based in Somerville, New Jersey.

Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on Aug. 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bibbiana (Sabatino) Renda. He grew up in Green Brook and Whitehouse Station. He graduated from Hunterdon Central in 1979 and Rutgers University in 1983. In 1986 Fred and his late wife, Maria Luisa (Silva) moved to Ringoes where he started a family. Fred was active in the community including the Knights of Columbus and Amwell Valley Little League.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Fred owned and operated Ernest Renda Contracting Co. Inc., specializing in water main systems. He cherished spending time with his family and dogs. A lover of baseball, history, and classic films, Fred was known for his sense of humor, his incredible memory and his love of hosting family events.

He is survived by his children, Nick, Amanda (Alan Blankstein), Freddy, and Celina Renda. He is also survived by his loving siblings Laura Beck, Joanne Hogg, Ernest Renda, Michelle Renda, and Phyllis DeStefano, as well as 27 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Maria Luisa (Silva), parents, Ernesto and Bibbiana (Sabatino) Renda, sister, Carmela (Sandy), and nephews Matthew and Joseph Lane. He is buried in St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington, New Jersey.
