NUCA Restructures Staff Leadership

In a statement from National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) Chairman Kevin Cripps, the association announced the restructuring of its staff with a dual leadership model to be led by Chris Barrett, who has been named Chief Staff Officer, and Zack Perconti, who will serve as Chief Advocacy Officer effective Oct. 16.

NUCA said the new structure is aimed at modernization and growth, along with operational continuity and external momentum that will benefit the membership and strengthen NUCA’s mission.

As Chief Staff Officer, Barrett will provide continuity in the internal management of NUCA, including governance, financial oversight, and support for the Board and chapters. With her nine years of service at NUCA and more than 20 years in senior association management, Barrett ensures steady, proven leadership at the core of NUCA’s operations. Barrett has been serving as interim CEO of NUCA since former CEO Doug Carlson resigned in April.

As Chief Advocacy Officer, Perconti will focus outwardly, leading NUCA’s advocacy efforts and strengthening relationships with policymakers, industry partners and expanding membership. Over the past six years, Perconti has championed NUCA’s voice in Washington, serving as vice president of government affairs, and NUCA said his new role will give him the platform to expand that influence even further.

“Together, Chris and Zack bring a balanced partnership: one grounded in stability and operational excellence, the other focused on growth and external momentum,” the statement from Cripps said. “This model is designed to ensure NUCA remains strong internally while increasing our visibility and impact across the industry. NUCA will also continue to engage with Summit Strategies as a trusted partner in our advocacy efforts, further enhancing our reach and impact on behalf of our members.

“We believe this is a positive step forward for NUCA, our chapters, and every member. It strengthens our ability to deliver value, protect your interests, and expand opportunities for all who are part of our association.”
