NUCA’s ‘Ditchdigger of the Year’ Awarded To Fuglevand
The National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) announced that it has awarded its top national recognition honor to Mark Fuglevand of KBA Inc.
Fuglevand will be presented with the “Ditchdigger of the Year” award at NUCA’s Annual Convention & Exhibit, being held this week in Tucson, Arizona (Feb. 27-29). The “Ditchdigger of the Year Award” is presented annually to a member who has made a significant contribution to NUCA and the underground utility construction industry.
Fuglevand joined NUCA in 2002, bringing over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. In his 18 years of NUCA membership, Fuglevand has advanced NUCA and the industry through his thoughtful and pragmatic leadership.
Fuglevand first served as president of NUCA of Washington from 2006 to 2008. He then became involved in the association’s national activities, joining the Education Committee and becoming the committee chairman. Additionally, he volunteered on the NUCA PAC and Strategic Plan committees. In 2014, Fuglevand became the 2014 Convention Committee as chairman and was nominated to the NUCA executive board. In 2018, he took the top job as NUCA Chairman. He is currently serving as NUCA’s Immediate-Past Chairman.
Throughout the years, Fuglevand has been a strong ambassador for the association and the industry. He has actively participated in the association’s annual Washington Summit, with his industry knowledge working in tandem with his passion for politics. His penchant for listening to others’ concerns and his gentlemanly demeanor have made him a very effective advocate for the industry, and have garnered both impressive results and the respect of his peers in the industry.
Founded in 1964, NUCA represents over 1,700 U.S. utility and excavation contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers who provide the materials and workforce to build and maintain our nation’s network of water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and electric infrastructure.
