NUCA: The PRO Act Does Not Build America

Association Urges Congress To Reject Project-Killing Bill

The chief executive officer of the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA), Doug Carlson, issued the following statement on the reintroduction of the “Protecting the Right to Organize Act” (PRO Act) in the 118th Congress:

“NUCA members are on the frontlines of fulfilling the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and other landmark federal infrastructure legislation accomplished by the last Congress. That same Congress wisely chose not to pass the PRO Act, and we encourage this new Congress to do the same.”

“Provisions within the PRO Act – including but not limited to the effective repeal of “right-to-work” laws – would be actively harmful to our industry’s efforts to quickly and efficiently rebuild America’s water and wastewater infrastructure, replace lead pipes nationwide, effectively deploy high-speed broadband, and rebuild other critical underground infrastructure. Passage of the PRO Act would significantly disrupt those efforts to improve our community’s living and health standards. We urge Congress not to move forward with this legislation in this session, or in any other.”
