Roger Mohr, John Deere Director and NUCA Member, Retires After 45 Years
Roger Mohr, director of the John Deere Corporate Business Division (CBD) and long-time NUCA member, has retired after more than 45 years of dedicated service. His last day was Jan. 31, 2017.
According to John Deere, the pinnacle of Roger’s career with the company has been the creation of the CBD. Since 1998, this group along with John Deere’s dealer organization has been dedicated to serving the unique needs of large construction businesses — such as those represented by NUCA.
Roger has been a member of NUCA for more than three decades and throughout that time has been a constant fixture at association events. He even received NUCA’s Associate of the Year award in 2006 — an honor presented to an associate member who has made a significant contribution to the association, as well as the underground utility construction and excavation industry.
“After a truly rewarding and gratifying 45-year career with John Deere, I have elected to retire,” said Roger. “Being involved in NUCA over the past 35 years has been one of the real highlights of my career. I have many fond memories of NUCA annual conventions and the outstanding NUCA members I’ve had the privilege to call friends over that time. One of my most distinguished honors was having been selected as a NUCA Associate of the Year, and I thoroughly enjoyed involvement in NUCA committees, Washington Summits, annual planning sessions and related activities. I will deeply miss working with you, Bill, the entire leadership team and, importantly, all of the NUCA members, past and present, many of whom I consider to be dear friends. All NUCA members are fortunate to belong to such a first-class organization, just as I have been! I want to wish all of you my very best.”
And as much as Roger has enjoyed being a part of NUCA, fellow members feel just as lucky to have the chance to get to know him throughout the years.
“To me, Roger embodies what NUCA strives for in its associate members,” said James King Jr., president and CEO of DeKalb Pipeline Co. “For as long as I can remember, he has been a fixture at all NUCA events, and has not only been there but has made it a priority to develop deep genuine relationships with NUCA members. Roger wants to know about you, your business and your family. He’s made himself available no matter what the need was for the customer, even assisting the local dealer. You knew help was only a phone call away. Roger is truly unique, and I am fortunate to have had the chance to get to know him and his wife Sarah.”
Rob Krzys, president of Benjamin Media, added, “I will personally miss Roger’s big smile and warm handshake at NUCA events. I suspect his smile will grow even bigger in the years to come as he gets the chance to relax and spend more time with his family. I’m thankful for the many years of service he’s given to NUCA.”
Aside from NUCA, Roger has served as a member and on boards of various industry organizations including the Distribution Contractors Association, the Strategic Account Management Association and the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP). He’s been the recipient of the AEMP-sponsored Richard M. Hawkins Award, recognizing exemplary dedication and contributions to the construction industry.
In early 2016, Roger was also recognized by Deere and Co. for his extraordinary leadership and expertise by naming him a Senior Fellow — just the second of these awards in the company’s history. This lifetime achievement award was given “in recognition of exemplary foresight, passion, knowledge, leadership and relentless customer focus.”
NUCA extends its sincerest thanks to Roger for his service and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
