Colorado Chapter Helps Ronald McDonald House
Members and staff of NUCA of Colorado recently volunteeredtheir Saturday to work on the Ronald McDonaldHouse in Aurora, Colo. The highly motivated crew hit theday early performing various tasks to help the limited staffat the institution that provides families of critically-ill childrenwith an inexpensive home away from home.
Ronald McDonald House Charities started in 1974, andwas the brain child of several Philadelphia Eagles playersafter they watched their teammate, Fred Hill, and his wifestay at the hospital with their 3-year-old daughter duringan extended hospital stay. The parents survived on vendingmachine food and short naps in the waiting room.
In response to their experience, Hill and his teammatesrallied the local community and McDonalds restaurantowners to help families of sick children. Today, there aremore than 250 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide thathave served more than 10 million families since 1974.
It was a great day and experience for the NUCA of Coloradomembers and staff to give back to the community. They helped clean the common areas in the three-story,45-room facility, as well made small repairs to the house.Thank you to all who contributed.
