Long-Time NUCA Member and Past President, Ted Bragger, Passes Away at 92
NUCA is saddened to report the passing of its colleague and friend Ted Bragger, who passed away peacefully April 16, at the age of 92. Ted served in many leadership roles in both NUCA of Rhode Island and NUCA National, including a term as 1994 NUCA president. His tenure as NUCA president was defined by several ambitious projects to focus on government lobbying efforts, membership development and jobsite safety. It was Ted’s idea to cast a slice of turburculated water line in lucite, giving NUCA a strong, persuasive visual prop for its infrastructure lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, a strategy that remains very effective more than 20 years later.
Ted’s business, Bragger Construction, was founded by his father Albert E. Bragger, Sr., in 1927 in their native Rhode Island. Ted loved to be at the jobsite, despite his advancing age. He admitted that he did this because he “liked the work,” adding “if I didn’t, I would’ve retired.” Ted and his wife of 64 years Betty attended many NUCA meetings and conventions over the years, and he was active in the assoication through his retirement at age 86. NUCA sends its sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
