NUCA Annual Convention Opens This Week in Tucson, AZ

This Thursday, the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) will be opening in Tucson, Arizona, its annual membership convention, celebrating in 2020 the theme “The Evolution of Leadership.”

The NUCA 2020 Annual Convention & Exhibit is a three-day membership event drawing over 200 of America’s leading utility construction contractors to the picturesque Loews Ventana Canyon Resort on North Resort Drive. The member-only convention, held between Thursday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 29, will be witnessing a change in association leadership, as well as featuring a nationally known keynote speaker, Ben Nemtin.

The association will be formally installing as its new Chairman of the Board, Fred Chesney of Palm City, Florida. Convention educational events include discussions about the 2020 economic outlook for the industry by Mark Bridgers, an expert in U.S. construction economics, as well as business-specific topics on ownership succession by Jake Appelman of FMI and an open discussion of damage prevention issues by Sarah Magruder Lyle, president of the Common Ground Alliance.

NUCA’s conventions are well attended by industry leaders. The convention offers several networking and social events for NUCA members, and is the venue where the industry’s top awards are presented. The association’s new CEO, Doug Carlson, will lead the leadership transition ceremonies.

On Friday, the NUCA 2020 Exhibit will feature almost 60 top utility construction industry companies exhibiting their products, services, and goods to convention attendees. The vendors are able to demonstrate how their products can resolve technical issues for contractors, as well as provide their expertise to answer attendee’s questions.

NUCA’s members are the builders of many of the nation’s public infrastructure projects. NUCA member companies are the contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers who provide the materials and workforce to build and maintain our nation’s complex network of water, sewer, natural gas, telecommunications, and electric infrastructure.
