Akkerman Names Justin Akkerman CEO
Akkerman has named Justin Akkerman as its new chief executive officer, marking the next generation of leadership for the family-owned trenchless equipment manufacturer.
Justin Akkerman is the third generation of the Akkerman family to lead the company, which was founded more than 50 years ago by D.H. Akkerman. His son, Maynard Akkerman, later expanded the business and helped establish the values of hard work, innovation, integrity and service that continue to shape the company.
In announcing the leadership transition, Akkerman said Justin brings a combination of field experience and engineering knowledge to the CEO role. He has worked on projects using Akkerman equipment in both laborer and engineering capacities, giving him firsthand experience with the company’s tunneling solutions and the contractors who use them.
Justin Akkerman also is expected to draw on the experience and knowledge of Akkerman employees as the company continues to develop and support trenchless equipment.
The company said the leadership change represents both continuity and progress, with Justin building on the foundation established by his grandfather and father while pursuing continued growth and innovation.
Akkerman said its commitment to quality, integrity and its relationships with trenchless contractors will remain central to the company’s direction under the new CEO.
