Conquering CONEXPO

After attending the NUCA 2017 Convention, head on over to the Las Vegas Convention Center for CONEXPO-CON/AGG  March 7-11. Every three years, the massive trade show descends upon Sin City to highlight the latest and greatest products and technologies the construction industry has to offer. This year’s show will feature 2,500-plus exhibitors spread out over 2.5 million net sq ft of exhibit space and is expected to attract more than 140,000 attendees from around the world. Case Construction Equipment

Case Construction Equipment will introduce new products, line extensions and model updates at CONEXPO, and host the “What’s Now” Speaker Series from the Case stage in booth N11825. The company will also introduce a first-of-its-kind crossover/concept vehicle at the show that represents practical product evolution for two distinct equipment categories. Country music superstar Chris Young will also appear and sign autographs at 1:30 p.m. on March 7 as part of a session promoting training and service with veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon. Caterpillar

At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017, Caterpillar will present its extensive line of machines, technology and customer support capabilities. With 40 machines on display in two different exhibit areas totaling 60,000 sq ft, Caterpillar’s presence is among the largest at the show. Cat Connect Technologies for machine control and monitoring will share the spotlight with the iron it enhances. Eight Cat machines will make their public debut and a half dozen more machines introduced recently will be on display for the first time at an equipment show. The newest Cat machines to be displayed include excavators, wheel loaders, a dozer, an articulated truck, a telehandler and cold planers. Chicago Pneumatic

Chicago Pneumatic’s Red Rock CPS 110 air compressor is portable, powerful and lightweight, making it ideal for construction site use. Not only does the Red Rock have the ability to power two breakers with ease, but it also can work in the harshest conditions. The compressor’s canopy is made from extra-tough polyethylene, which protects the working parts and ensures the CPS 110 performs to its maximum capabilities. The CPS 110 offers a normal effective working pressure of 100 psi at 110 cfm. Featuring a Kubota D-902 Tier 4 Final engine, the unit has three cylinders and a power output of 18.5 kW at normal shaft speed. Ditch Witch

The Ditch Witch organization will showcase a variety of new underground construction equipment and technology in booth C31927 to help operators improve jobsite productivity and profitability. The next generation of Ditch Witch horizontal directional drills (HDD) will be showcased along with an innovative, virtual reality experience in the booth. The company will feature its newest heavy-duty tracked trencher along with a selection of the latest ride-on and walk-behind trenchers and updated microtrenching systems. The newest mini skid steer models with enhanced operator platforms will also be on display. Doosan Construction Equipment

Doosan Portable Power

Hyundai

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas will unveil four new equipment models and introduce important upgrades to many current models at CONEXPO. Hyundai plans to display more than 20 machines in its 22,500-sq-ft exhibit, located in the North Hall. A full-line manufacturer of wheel loaders, excavators, compaction rollers and forklifts, Hyundai plans to debut additional models in its HL900 series of wheel loaders and HR-9 series of tandem-drum compaction rollers. Hyundai also will add a fourth zero-tail swing model to its 9A series of compact excavators, the 23-hp, 3-ton-class R30Z-9AK model (pictured). JCB

JCB’s 3CX Compact backhoe combines the digging power and ease-of-use of a compact excavator with the capabilities of a compact wheel loader. Its 6-ft wide by 9-ft high footprint makes it 35 percent smaller than JCB’s standard 3CX backhoe model. Compatibility with numerous attachments gives the machine optimum versatility. A three-speed hydrostatic transmission allows 3CX Compact operators to switch between low and high range for ease-of-use, greater pushing power and a 25-mph maximum travel speed. Powered by a 74-hp JCB Tier 4 Final engine, the 3CX Compact needs no diesel particulate filter (DPF) or after-treatment, simplifying maintenance and associated costs. John Deere

John Deere is building on its lineup of SmartGrade crawler dozers with the integration of the machine control offering on the 750K and 850K models. Adding SmartGrade availability on these larger machines will improve jobsite accuracy and quality of work through the complete integration of the Topcon 3D-MC2 Grade Control System. The system is fully incorporated into the machine cabin, structures and software — delivering precise grading performance while eliminating vulnerable external masts and cables. The machines incorporate a PowerTech 6.8-L Tier 4 Final diesel engine with 165 hp and 205 hp, respectively. Both models feature Eco mode, which automatically adjusts engine power and transmission settings based on load while maintaining ground speed, to help optimize fuel economy. Powered by a 252-hp Tier 4 Final HINO engine, Kobelco’s SK300LC-10 excavator tackles heavy-duty applications with ease and remains one of the most powerful and fuel-efficient machines in its class. The trendsetting SK300LC-10 delivers a dynamic bucket digging force of 37,300-lbf to achieve leading-class work volume — even while minimizing fuel consumption. Komatsu America’s 168-hp Tier 4 Final D61EXi/PXi-24 is the second generation of its most popular intelligent Machine Control dozer. The intelligent Machine Control system allows automated operation from heavy dozing to fine grading, achieving up to eight percent greater efficiency when compared to comparable aftermarket machine control systems in start-to-finish grading tests. To help users make more accurate locates of obstructed utilities, UtiliGuard is the first locating system that measures distances (depths) both horizontally and vertically to the utility, says the company. Takeuchi

Takeuchi’s TB216H hybrid dual-powered excavator features both an electric motor and diesel engine with its own pump group to power the machine’s hydraulics. In diesel mode, the machine is powered by a 14.9-hp Yanmar Tier 4 Final engine. For emissions-free environments, the machine can be powered by the 14.2-hp electric motor. The diesel engine is ideal for normal day-to-day operation, to load, unload and power the machine to an enclosed jobsite where the machine can be plugged into a 400- to 480-volt three-phase power source for 100 percent emissions-free operation. The latest in Volvo’s expanding excavator line is the EW60E, a wheeled model designed for operator comfort with power deceptive of its compact size. The EW60E has a 10 percent larger cab than predecessor models, reduced noise and upgraded air conditioning.
