Cook Joins Petticoat-Schmitt as Director of Business Development

Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors (Petticoat-Schmitt), a construction firm specializing in water resources, public works, and site development projects, welcomed Marcy Cook to the firm as Director of Business Development. A public relations- and communications-focused marketer, Cook has more than 20 years of experience in administration and project management for the public and private sectors in Northeast Florida. In her new role, she will identify and pursue business opportunities to drive growth and cultivate strong relationships with potential and existing clients, collaborators, and partners while leveraging her experience managing municipal projects.

“My goal is to connect public and private clients with Petticoat-Schmitt’s expertise in public works and site development to continue meeting the infrastructure needs of our growing region,” said Cook.

A native Floridian, Cook has served the community and the A/E/C industry as treasurer of the APWA (American Public Works Association) Northeast Florida Branch for more than 15 years and in past board positions for University of North Florida and Florida Stormwater Association.

Petticoat-Schmitt’s president and COO Lauren Atwell notes Cook’s experience as being particularly relevant to her new position stating, “Marcy has a unique background that includes legislative and policy development, community outreach, and media relations for the City of Jacksonville’s Public Works Department as well as municipal engineering project management. Her experience positions her as an integral part of building the life-changing infrastructure to support development in our area.”
