NUCA Middle Tennessee Chapter Tours Vulcan Plant

After the lunch provided by Vulcan, members toured the plant.

Vulcan’s Franklin, Tennessee, plant hosted a site visit on Nov. 11 for members of the NUCA of Middle Tennessee Chapter Members. Vulcan Materials Co. is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates—primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel—and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.

Their coast-to-coast footprint and strategic distribution network align with and serve the nation’s growth centers. In particular the Vulcan Plant in Franklin is a supplier and distributor of construction materials. It offers construction aggregates, including gravel, sand and crushed stone, for use in building bridges, parking lots, roads, airport runways, houses, apartments, schools, commercial buildings and more.

Chapter members met and were greeted by Vulcan employees and were given a short safety instruction. After the lunch provided by Vulcan, members toured the plant by bus. This included the underground portion of the plant where attendees got an inside look on how products are made and how the rock is retrieved underground. Company members represented included The Hanover Insurance Group, Sunbelt Rentals, Westfield Group, Diamond Equipment, Bobcat of Nashville, Core & Main, HUB International, Rawso Constructors, TN811, Cleary Construction and Southern Site Contractors.

NUCA’s Middle Tennessee Chapter represents more than 40 contractors and affiliated firms in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. NUCA Middle Tennessee represents licensed utility contractors and those affiliated with companies who install and rehabilitate new and existing water, sewer, gas, electrical, telecommunications and other underground utility systems for the public and private sector including pipe and plant installation.
