NUCA NJ’s Chowansky Named Chair of Government Affairs Committee

NUCA New Jersey announced that Lisa Chowansky, the chapter’s current President, has been named Chair of the NUCA National Government Affairs Committee, the most prominent and influential committee within the National Utility Contractors Association.

The Government Affairs Committee is responsible for shaping NUCA’s national advocacy and federal policy agenda on behalf of the utility construction industry. The committee monitors developments in Congress and throughout federal executive agencies, builds key relationships with policymakers, and leads NUCA’s efforts to develop, support, or oppose legislation and regulations that directly impact utility contractors here in New Jersey and across the country.

Chowansky succeeds Tom Butler of Florida, who has chaired the committee for many years. NUCA New Jersey thanks Butler for his outstanding leadership. Chowansky is the first New Jersey representative to serve as Chair of this important national committee.

In addition to leading the National Government Affairs Committee, Chowansky will also have a role in the work of NUCA’s State and Local Government Affairs Committee. Her appointment gives New Jersey an exceptionally strong voice in shaping the policies that affect our industry at every level of government.

Chowansky, President of HC Constructors, has served on several boards and committees and has earned widespread recognition and numerous industry accolades throughout her career. Her experience, leadership, and deep understanding of the utility construction industry make her an outstanding choice for this role.

Chowansky will be joined in this effort by NUCA New Jersey Executive Director Evan Piscitelli, who will continue serving as the Executive Director Liaison to the Government Affairs program and overseeing the committee’s activities, as well as Vincent Santaite, NUCA NJ’s Immediate Past President who is a member of it. The work begins immediately, as significant issues surrounding federal infrastructure funding are already developing at the very beginning of her tenure.
