Dufford is a long-time business owner in Glastonbury, where he operates Riverview Farms with his daughter in South Glastonbury. In April 1966, Dufford founded Dufford Construction Co. after purchasing equipment from another construction company. The following April, Dufford acquired another construction company and his business grew to a successful multi-million dollar excavating, site work and road building construction company with a statewide reputation that continued for 44 years. He served as President of UCAC from 1989-90.

With more than 80 members and guests in attendance, and his family looking on as surprise guests, Dufford was presented with a Boston rocker and recognized in remarks by UCAC Past President Dave Ambrose, Sr. of Wethersfield Construction Co., and Past President and Executive Director John A. Barasso. In presenting the award, Ambrose noted Dufford’s long-time personal friendship and his dedication and service to UCAC and the utility contracting and construction industry in Connecticut.

Dufford, in receiving the award, expressed his gratitude and recounted several stories from his tenure with the organization, focusing on periodic trips to NUCA’s Washington Summit in the nation’s capital to meet with his Congressional representatives. “I have enjoyed working in construction for most of my life, and I have made many life-long friends in this industry,” he said. “I was fortunate to have good, quality people working for me,” Dufford added humbly.

Dufford was also active on the national level for many years, serving on NUCA’s Board of Directors and regularly attending association events. NUCA extends its thanks and best wishes to Dufford and his family.
