Giving Back
KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA created five limited edition KOBELCO SK350 crawler excavators to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and displayed one of the machines at CONEXPO-CON/AGG last month.
The CONEXPO display netted the project approximately $20,000 for WWP.
More than 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated that as many as 400,000 service members live with the visible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.
The Wounded Warrior Project’s 18 programs and services offer support to this generation of injured veterans and their families by nurturing the mind and body and encouraging economic empowerment and engagement.
Thousands of CONEXPO attendees stopped by the KOBELCO booth and had their photos taken with the patriotic machine wrapped in graphics including the American flag, silhouettes of soldiers and logos from all five armed force divisions.
The $19,317.75 donated by booth visitors over five days joins the $100,000 KOBELCO will donate to this non-profit organization that supports a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.
“We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the impact this machine had on visitors to our booth at CONEXPO/CON-AGG, and we are humbled by their generosity in helping us support this very important cause,” said Ron Hargrave, Vice President of Operations for KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA.
“Everyone at KOBELCO appreciates those who joined us in our effort to support a cause that helps military members and their families.”
