Greenlee’s New EK1240SLX: Evolving a Proven Tool Without Changing What Works
Greenlee®, a part of Emerson’s professional tools portfolio, announced the launch of the EK1240SLX 12-Ton Crimper, a redesigned tool that is 10% lighter and lasts 35% longer than its predecessor. Built for utility and industrial professionals, the EK1240SLX delivers 24,000 lbs. of crimping force for up to 750 Kcmil copper and aluminum connectors.

Built on Greenlee’s proven 12-ton platform, the tool features a lighter head for better handling, balance and durability without sacrificing the performance professionals need for repetitive crimping.
“Crews use these tools every day, so reducing weight and improving balance can make a real difference over time,” said Ryan Berg, director of product management, Greenlee for Emerson. “For many professionals, safety means helping workers leave the job in the same condition they arrived, and this upgrade is intended to reduce strain that can contribute to long-term injuries.”
Evolving a Proven Tool Without Changing What Works
The EK1240SLX incorporates a newly engineered C-head design that optimizes weight distribution to provide superior balance and minimize strain on arms and shoulders, while a grooved guide provides ram alignment, helping deliver consistent, repeatable crimps without second-guessing. Integrated Automatic Retraction Stop (ARS) retracts the ram just enough to get ready for the next cycle, saving time and energy.

Together, these design features contribute to reduced operator fatigue, smoother handling and improved comfort over long days in the field, especially important for crews performing repetitive crimping tasks.
Greenlee’s proven Intelli-CRIMP™ technology continues to monitor crimp force and provides both a visual and audible alert to the operator if a crimp is out of specification – which is critical for tools used in remote or hard-to-reach applications.
