BT Construction Inc. Acquires HDD/Willco
On Dec. 31, 2021, HDD/Willco was acquired by BT Construction Inc. (BTC) and will be doing business as part of the BTrenchless division. BTC is a complete one-source civil utility contractor based in Colorado and Utah. Backed by a deeply involved ownership team, BTC’s open-cut crews specialize in water, sanitary, storm pipeline construction and relocation, underground chilled and steam lines, electrical and communications duct banks, and sheet pile installation.
“We are thrilled to welcome HDD/Willco to the BTC family. They are such an impressive group of talented and skilled folks that will allow us to take the next step in meeting our clients’ needs in both Utah and Colorado,” commented Harper Daniell, President of BTC. “With our industry’s challenges continuing to grow – tighter schedules, increased complexity, and the numerous disruptions we have had the last few years – our combined forces will ensure our clients will achieve their goals.”
BTC’s trenchless division, BTrenchless, provides microtunneling, tunnel boring, auger boring, hand tunneling, hammer/pipe ramming, McLaughlin Boring, pipe bursting, hydrovac excavation, and slip lining.
While HDD/Willco’s auger boring, pipe ramming, and hydro excavation hold a strong presence in Utah, their solid 45-year foundation, honest reputation, and moral principles were the defining and common factors that paralleled with BTC, which celebrated its 41st anniversary.
“BT Construction has always believed our culture is what makes a difference to our clients and our employees. We know our business and reputation have been established on relationships between our people and our clients, and these relationships are an enduring bond rooted in strong ethics. That is what we saw with HDD/Willco. We realized that they embrace the same values. Their client’s and staff’s loyalty proves this. We are excited about the future of this new partnership and the lifelong career stability it will create for current and future employees,” Buck Bergstrom, Founder, BTC/BTrenchless.
The acquisition of HDD/Willco aligns with BTC’s vision to expand into Utah area. By including horizontal directional drilling with current methods, the two teams combined can offer clients a more robust variety of options when trenchless methods are in demand.
“I am very honored and extremely grateful to be a part of the BTC team and couldn’t think of a better succession plan for HDD/Willco to continue growing and leading in our industry. Our combined experience with BTC has over 68 years in the trenchless industry. I would hold my hat in hand and humbly say, ‘let’s see what the next 70 years bring to the BTC team,’” Adam Taylor, Vice President HDD/Willco.
