Shore Up for Safety Week

Building on the success of more than 435 events in 2025, NAXSA launches its fourth annual Shore Up for Safety Week, May 4-8, 2026.

Excavation shoring experts are collecting material and tools to fan out across the nation, delivering vital safety training and resources to customers and colleagues. By week’s end, thousands of employers and workers will return to their jobsites – and coworkers – as lifesavers.

“Zero is our goal,” says NAXSA President Steve Simon of Sunbelt Rentals Shoring Solutions. “Zero deaths. Zero injuries. In every trench. Every day.” he adds, echoing the 2026 Shore Up for Safety Week theme.

Each year, hundreds of NAXSA members mobilize stakeholders throughout their industry to promote safety awareness and training in underground construction through a week filled with hands-on activities for contractors and crews.

Excavation safety training, competent person classes, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other presentations are included. Sunbelt Rentals and Trench Shoring Company have generously sponsored NAXSA’s 2026 Shore Up for Safety Week activities.

Participation is available to everyone who wants to make safety a top priority in job planning and create a strong job site safety culture. Each participant is counted by NAXSA to measure the initial impact of the Week’s activities.
